The Pew study reported jobs in U.S. clean-energy sector grew by 9.1 percent between 1998 and 2007, where as the nation’s overall job growth was only 3.7 percent during the same period. "The state's clean-energy economy is poised for incredible growth." Texas Congressional Representatives Rafael Anchia and Mark Strama have spoken about the need for increased energy efficiency measures and for increasing the amount of green jobs. One bill, proposed by Representative Anchia, included addendum's that would establish energy efficiency standards for major appliances, including pool pumps, bottle-type water dispensers, and portable hot tubs.
